Happy, happy, Jay, Jay

Jay's new Specialized S-Works Roubaix SL2

Well, I finally wrote the "big check," and bought the bike of my dreams. Yeah, I know this blog site is called underheadphones, and yes, I do like spinning.

But truth be told, I spend MANY more hours on a bike than I do spinning records. And it's my real passion. (Does that suggest I should rename my blog? Hmmm...)

And this is "The Bike." A Specialized S-Works Roubaix SL2. Long name, but read "This is what the pro teams ride." Because (for some unknown reason) Specialized doesn't sell this in the SRAM Red groupo I wanted, I built this up from the frameset. Which also allowed me to put on the Reynolds all-carbon clincher wheels I wanted (vs. the less-good ones from Specialized.)

(Oh, just noticed SRAM is a Drupal site! woo hoo!)

Went out on a first-ride last Saturday. It was near freezing, but dry, and when you have a new bike like this, you don't let a little thing like temperature stop you from getting out on the new toy. Click the thumbnail photo to see the pic taken at the bike shop where I bought the bike on that first day's ride.

So now I've got to get some miles on the bike, so I can get ready for my trip in April to ride the Ronde van Vlaanderen Sportiv, and really pretend I'm a competent cycling enthusiast.

More later, I'm sure.
